Abbey Hill takes sustainability drive to the next level.

Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire – December 2025 – Abbey Hill Golf Centre has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability through a series of new initiatives that connect the club more closely with the Milton Keynes community.

The club has become a Business Member of the Milton Keynes Community Foundation (MKCF), directing its membership contribution to the Foundation’s Environmental Fund to support projects that reduce emissions, protect local green spaces, and improve environmental outcomes across the city.

The partnership marks an important milestone for Abbey Hill, which has recently appointed Katie Lanigan as its first Sustainability Officer to lead ongoing environmental projects at the venue. Katie’s appointment underlines the club’s proactive approach to sustainability and its aim to embed positive environmental practices across every area of its operation.

As part of the collaboration with MKCF, Abbey Hill has also installed a ‘Tap to Donate’ station in its restaurant, giving members and visitors an easy way to contribute to local community projects supported by the Foundation. Every tap directly supports grassroots initiatives that are helping Milton Keynes transition towards a greener, more sustainable future.

In addition, Abbey Hill has launched several in-house projects designed to reduce waste and improve resource efficiency. A new composting initiative led by the maintenance team is transforming kitchen food scraps, coffee grounds, cardboard, and course green waste into compost for use around the grounds. The club is also developing a relationship with Sustainable MK, a local charity that redistributes surplus food to community groups using zero-emissions vehicles, helping Abbey Hill minimise food waste and support local causes.

Robin Cheng, General Manager of Abbey Hill Golf Centre, commented:“Sustainability is central to how we operate at Abbey Hill. From our partnership with MKCF to everyday actions like composting and food redistribution, we want to play an active role in protecting the local environment and supporting the community we’re part of.”

The MK Community Foundation welcomed Abbey Hill’s membership, highlighting how local businesses are vital to delivering positive change across the region. Through the Environmental Fund, business donations help fund practical projects that protect natural spaces, enhance biodiversity, and promote environmental awareness throughout Milton Keynes.

Abbey Hill Golf Centre is part of BGL Golf, one of the UK’s leading golf and leisure operators, and is home to an 18-hole parkland course, a short course, and a modern floodlit driving range. Alongside its golf facilities, the venue also offers a contemporary clubhouse with a bar and restaurant, plus a thriving events calendar for the local community.
